Biography:
Sohil Shah graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor with a Master of Science in Finance and holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics from the University of Mumbai.
He has 15 years of experience in financial services, impact investments, venture capital, and investment banking. He possesses extensive international experience across countries including India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, the USA, and Sub-Saharan Africa. He specializes in financial inclusion investments (microfinance, housing finance, MSME lending) and fintech platforms.
He has significant experience in investment projects and transaction management:
- Since 2019, he has served as Principal and Head of VC, Investments at Gojo & Company, Inc., where he manages all aspects of the transaction process, from sourcing and financial modeling to negotiations and investment exits.
- He is the Co-founder and Investment Partner of UNLEASH Capital Partners (a $35 million USD fund) focused on early-stage fintech startups.
- Previously, he led the Intellecap Impact Investment Network, where he managed over 35 investments worth approximately $15 million USD and oversaw the network's expansion into Kenya.
- He worked in Global Investment Banking at Bank of America, participating in strategic M&A transactions valued at up to $6.8 billion USD.
He holds high-level governance positions in financial institutions:
- Member of the Supervisory Board of MDO Humo (Republic of Tajikistan).
- Board Member at Satya Microhousing Finance (India) and Sejaya Microcredit (Sri Lanka).
